FURT HOME PAGEFURT is the electronic composition/performance duo formed by Richard Barrett and Paul Obermayer in London in 1986. FURTs dense and intricate musical forms are produced at every level by an interpenetration between free improvisation and systematic composition, and use primarily concrete (sampled/processed) materials. This activity is concerned above all with allying the physicality and expressivity of sound-structures to FURTs fleeting vision - but also with deriving methods of musical production from the nature of the (electronic) medium itself.Furt, in dicts. explained - theft, is a misprint in the later edd. of Tomkis Albumasar for furie.OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARYMain works: OMNIVM, mice, sad fantasy, Plint, Volksmusik, implant, go WHERE?, ULTIMATUM, Failed Experiment, RIGOR, irregular, macro, angel, modern, Unstern, the insect class, Terminal, Johannes-Passion, Sink, homunculus, Hospital of the Soul, Appendix, The Flesh of Experience, allergic, intruder, bodies of water, disgusting the ones 1 the concert, byproducts, thinking of big numbers CDs: dead or alive (psi records), defekt (Matchless Recordings), angel (JdK), Live in Amsterdam 1994 (X-OR).Also Evan Parker Electro-Acoustic Ensemble: The Eleventh Hour (ECM Records) Collaborators: BARK!, BBC Radio 3, Adam Bohman, John Butcher, Rex Casswell, Richard Crow, Rhodri Davies, Karlheinz Essl, Friedrich Gauwerky, Harry Gilonis, Paul Lovens, Phillip Marks, Phil Minton, Wolfgang Mitterer, Evan Parker, Ensemble RESERVOIR, Kees Tazelaar, Mikel Toms, Ute Wassermann Key Barrett words: United Music Publishers UMP Elision ensemble Daryl Buckley Carl Rosman BBC Symphony Orchestra BBCSO Arditti String Quartet Ian Pace Cikada Opening of the Mouth Ruin I open and close Unter Wasser negatives...one of the most blisteringly energetic and experimental partnerships over the past 20 years.
